Next Monday, January 30th, the "By George" Cartoonists Club will meet at 11:30 am at the Heroes Aren"t Hard To Find Comics Shop (thanks to Shelton Drum for making his place available every month). We will make the 20 yard jaunt across to Showmars for lunch, so if any of you show up later than 11:45, just come on over.
After a hearty lunch, and a time for conversation, we will adjourn back to Heroes where JIM SCANCARELLI will enlighten us about his career as Cartoonist on "GASOLINE ALLEY". Jim has held the reigns on the long-running story strip for 19 years; prior to that he had served as DICK MOORES' assistant since 1979. Jim will be showing a short TV documentary about his work. He will also have some of his originals. Jim is an avid collector of original comic art; hopefully, he can share some info on his extensive collection. It should be an interesting presentation.
It has been suggested that we consider meeting in the evening, as the lunchtime is not do-able for everyone.
Perhaps we could alternate on an every-other-month basis. Think about it, and we'll discuss it Monday.
Our group is growing. I've received several emails from illustrators/cartoonists/animators who expressed an interest in attending our meetings. So, we look forward to meeting some new faces Monday.
The HEROES Shop is at the corner of 7th Street and Pecan, beside Starbucks.
